Hello everyone, welcome to my new blog! Since vlogging is the most intimidating thing I can think of doing I'm taking the easy way out and will blog about the next adventure of my life: moving to Busan, South Korea!
One week after graduation in May I decided to take a 4 week intensive TEFL course to become certified to teach English as a foreign language. Once the course ended and we had our diplomas in hand, I immediately headed home to good old Glen Ellyn to start working on my EPIK (English Program In Korea) application which I finally submitted in August.
Then I sat back and waited.
In the meantime I kept myself busy: got my tonsils out, started an internship at the Glen Ellyn Chamber of Commerce working on social media marketing, got a job at Madewell selling jeans that I could never afford if I hadn't actually worked there, had my wisdom teeth taken out, and traveled to Ireland, Denmark, England, and Iceland to visit my friends Jess and Rachel.
In October I found out I had passed my extremely intimidating EPIK interview, and in December I received an email telling my that I had been offered a job with the Busan Office of Education.
Now, in just 11 short days I will be saying goodbye to Chicagoland and heading to the airport to board a plane to Busan, South Korea. When I arrive I will head to training orientation and after those 9 days are up I will begin teaching in Busan!
I am so excited and nervous and I can't wait to start this crazy chapter of my life!
Stay tuned for more...
